Discover Ancient Animals at Adelaide Zoo during the School Holidays!
Travel millions of years back in time these school holidays and uncover the incredible connections between prehistoric giants and the amazing animals that call Adelaide Zoo home today! Visitors can compare towering Brachiosaurus with Giraffes, discover what Sabre-tooth cats have in common with Sumatran Tigers, and see how ancient swimmers evolved into today’s Little Penguins.
Along the way, little Zoo visitors can complete a prehistoric scavenger quest, tackle dinosaur-themed activities, and learn how animals have adapted and evolved over millions of years. It’s a roaring adventure the whole family will love!
Adelaide Zoo is open every day of the school holidays 9:30am – 5pm
Free Flight Bird Show | 11.30am daily on the Central Lawn
Throw out a picnic rug and get the whole family involved in this exciting presentation as a range of species like the Barking Owl and Blue and Gold Macaw soar over your heads.
Get within a whisker and upgrade your visit with an animal experience!
Watch those smiles widen as you feed a gentle giraffe or watch Obi’s impressive jaw munch through treats at Pygmy Hippo Lunchtime. Check out the experiences on offer.

Home to over 2500 animals and 250 species with daily free keeper presentations, a day out at the Zoo is fun for the whole family. Remember, littlies under four years of age can enter the Zoo for free!
