⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  5 Stars For A Feel-Good Family Dance Party

Review by Danielle Parker

Nobody is putting the babies and kids in the corner at Monski Mouse’s Baby Disco Dance Hall. Nope, they’re right in the centre of it all. We brought out our jazz hands, shook it off and had the time of our lives.

Designed for 0-5 year olds and held at a family-friendly, 10:30am weekend time slot, this was a fun morning out with the whole family. DJ Monski Mouse spun an infectious blend of classic bangers and nursery rhymes, while her dancers, Steve and Sarah, brought the energy, leading us through the moves and getting the whole room involved (yes, there was a conga line!).

What makes this show so wonderful for the little ones and adults alike, is that you can participate as much or as little as you want. Some kids were right up the front, dancing their little hearts out, while others stood back observing. And then for some, they tired themselves out by dancing so much that they fell asleep in their parents’ arms! My one-year-old took it all in at first, before getting involved, clapping along to the music and crawling around with the other kids.

Part of the joy of this production is that it really was beautiful to see babies, kids, parents, grandparents and carers genuinely enjoy dancing, being silly together, and creating memories.

We had high expectations for this show and it was well-warranted. This was a great choice for my toddler’s first Adelaide Fringe show and will be one to revisit. As a one-year-old, my daughter enjoyed herself, but certainly as she gets older and can walk, she will be able to dance on her own and interact even more. Lucky for her, there was a special number especially for crawlers!

If your little one doesn’t want to dance, or wants to rest, there is a small area away from the dance floor with cushions on the floor to relax and play. There are also booths surrounding the dance floor, so plenty of kids took a moment to sit and enjoy a snack, have a sip of water, or just observe, before re-joining the dance floor.

As DJ Monski Mouse says, what happens at the baby disco, stays at the baby disco, so be sure to take your little one along to experience it for yourselves, you’re in for a bopping good time!
