RailFest Mount Barker Railway Heritage Festival | 24 May 2026
RailFest family-friendly open day at Mount Barker Railway Station, featuring steam locomotive-hauled shuttle train services* between Mount Barker and Bugle Ranges.
For one day, the Mt Barker Rail Festival will be hosted by SteamRanger at the Mt Barker railway station. The festival gives visitors the opportunity to ride on trains*, take a tour of the SteamRanger workshop facilities that are not usually open to the public and view the restoration and maintenance work undertaken on the SteamRanger heritage locomotives and rolling stock.
In The Depot:
You’ll be able to see heritage locomotives and carriages on display, browse market stalls, purchase food from the food stalls and watch shunting demonstrations. Tickets available on the day – $10 adults/$5 kids.
Train Ride:
Book a ride on the Shuttle Train from Mt Barker to Bugle Ranges and back. Select one of six departure times.

*Train ride tickets must be bought online via the SteamRanger Heritage Railway website prior to departure date. Tickets will not be available at the station on the day of travel.
