Mount Lofty Adventure Hub | Review

If your family loves excitement, adventure, and trying something new, Mount Lofty Adventure Hub is the perfect destination. Nestled within the beautiful Woodhouse Adventure Park at Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills, this action-packed attraction is home to some of South Australia’s most thrilling outdoor experiences.

From scaling a towering 15-metre climbing wall to soaring through the treetops on South Australia’s longest zipline, there’s no shortage of heart-racing fun for kids and adults alike at the Mount Lofty Adventure Hub.

On arrival, park in the main car park at the entrance to Woodhouse Adventure Park and check in at the Front Office. You’ll receive a park map and the four-digit code to access the boom gate.

Please note that admission to Mount Lofty Adventure Hub does not include entry to the rest of Woodhouse Adventure Park. If you’d like to spend more time exploring the park, you can purchase entry when you check in.

Once inside, follow the clearly marked signs to the Adventure Hub. We recommend arriving around 15 minutes before your session begins to allow time for the safety briefing and harness fitting. The friendly instructors make everyone feel comfortable and confident before the fun begins.

15-Metre Adventure Tower

Our first challenge was the impressive rock-climbing wall – the tallest in South Australia. The kids couldn’t wait to get started and eagerly took turns tackling the climb. Despite its height, we felt completely at ease thanks to the professional instructors and excellent safety systems. The instructors encouraged the climbers along the way, helping them choose the best handholds as they worked towards the top to ring the cowbell.

After reaching the summit, climbers abseil back down to the ground. It’s definitely a workout, so a short rest between climbs is well deserved before heading back up for another attempt.

3-Person Mega Swing

Without a doubt, the Mega Swing was our favourite activity – and the biggest adrenaline rush of the day. Up to three people can ride together, with the option of choosing a low, medium, or high swing. We started at the lowest setting before gradually building up the courage to try the highest. Once securely harnessed in, riders are pulled back before the release sends you soaring through the air.

Expect plenty of screams followed by laughter as the swing reaches its highest point. It was an unforgettable experience, and the kids absolutely loved every second.

Forest Zipline

We finished our session with the spectacular 324-metre Forest Zipline – the longest zipline in South Australia. To reach the launch platform, you’ll climb a tall ladder inside the adventure tower before stepping off and gliding high above the creek and surrounding forest. The feeling of flying through the trees is incredible, and the ride seems to go on forever. If you’re nervous about heights, this may push you outside your comfort zone, but it’s well worth it. Our instructor even mentioned they’ve only had a couple of people decide not to go through with it, so chances are you’ll surprise yourself.

Things To Consider:

• Participants must be at least 9 years old, 120 cm tall, and weigh between 25 kg and 120 kg.
• Sessions may be postponed during severe weather, but bookings can easily be rescheduled.
• Group sizes are capped at 10 participants, meaning smaller groups often enjoy more turns on each activity.
• School holidays are the busiest times, so booking well in advance is recommended.
• Don’t let cooler weather put you off—we visited on a cool, slightly drizzly day and still had an amazing experience.
• Toilet facilities are available on site.
• No previous climbing or adventure experience is required, making it suitable for beginners as well as thrill-seekers.
• If you have a significant fear of heights, keep in mind that all activities involve being well above the ground.
• There are no food or drink facilities at the Adventure Hub, so it’s a good idea to bring your own snacks and water.

Mount Lofty Adventure Hub is a fantastic destination for families looking to spend quality time outdoors while enjoying a little adventure. The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable, the equipment is well maintained, and every activity strikes the perfect balance between excitement and safety.

Whether you’re challenging yourself on the climbing wall, laughing your way through the Mega Swing, or flying across the forest on the incredible zipline, it’s an experience the whole family will remember. We had an amazing day and can’t wait to come back for another adventure.
