Museums in the Port
Port Adelaide’s museums―the SA Maritime Museum, National Railway Museum and SA Aviation Museum throw open their doors on the weekend of the 13 and 14 October for families to explore everything that sails, chugs, and soars.
To celebrate South Australia’s first heritage precinct, admission has been discounted to just $5 for each museum for adults while kids under 15 can enjoy the day for free.
Museums in the Port will coincide with ‘Boatfest’, a celebration of the joys of messing about in wooden boats which includes displays of craft on land and water, masterclasses in seafood, local music and more. A FREE shuttle bus service will operate between the three museums and Hart’s Mill in a loop each day between 10am–4pm inclusive, or punters can hitch a ride between the sites on the historic police launch Archie Badenoch. With food, performances, street markets and a full day packed with retro transport attractions, Port Adelaide will be buzzing from the wharf to the Aviation Museum.
