New Family-Friendly Barossa Adventure Station in Angaston
The new Barossa Adventure Station in Angaston is to be opened on Saturday 4 July 2020. The family-friendly adventure facility features a one kilometre mountain bike trail, flying fox, accessible trampolines, bespoke tower and slide, skate ramps, bouldering wall, half-court basketball, sensory sound forest poles and serene picnic spaces.
The Barossa Council are pleased to be officially launching the much anticipated Barossa Adventure Station, a $2.5 million dollar project as part of Council’s The Big Project, a 50-year infrastructure roadmap for the region.
The Barossa Adventure Station incorporates the restoration of the original rail turntable, crane and 1910 station building – an impressive element of the project which saw the building physically jacked up to reconstruct the platform, along with a full roof restoration thanks, in part, to a $20,000 grant from Heritage SA.
It is hoped the beautifully refurbished building, which maintains its original charm and character, will attract a retail or hospitality tenant in the near future, complementing the long term view to further activate the Station space to include community events and markets.
Community and tourists alike are encouraged to get outdoors and explore the Station these July school holidays in a COVID-Safe manner through implementing social distancing, good hand hygiene practice, and remaining home if unwell.
The adventure station includes:
- A multi-level adventure play space including a mega tower and slide.
- Active lifestyle facilities including outdoor fitness equipment and play deck.
- Challenge and adventure opportunities with a 1km mountain bike trail loop.
- Highly accessible community space with improved access from South Terrace and Washington Street, and flexible meeting and picnic spaces
- Dedicated toilet facilities on site.
The Barossa Adventure Station opens to the public from Saturday 4 July.
