City Skate | Adelaide City Skate Park

Adelaide’s New City Skate Park is Open

Adelaide’s new $3 million skate park integrated into the Gladys Elphick Park/Narnungga (Park 25) is a facility built for skating, BMX and other wheeled sports from beginner levels to advanced.

City Skate is the largest skate park in South Australia and will be home to local events, skate clinics and some of Australia’s major skating events. Featuring impressive curved concrete structures and above Olympic standard lighting, the new skate park is situated directly opposite the RAH and is conveniently located close to public transport. The park also has several multi-purpose sporting fields, including Park 25 and Karen Rolton Oval.

The previous city skate park on North Terrace was removed in 2015  to make way for a Uni SA  development. Since then, skaters and riders had been petitioning for a new skate park. The design of the new City Skate Park was revealed in October 2020 and construction finally began in early 2021.  After numerous delays the project was officially opened on Saturday 3 September 2022.

Skatepark design and construction company Convic shared some progress photos of the new skate park:

After Hours Lights

The park lights are dimmed from sunset to sunrise each day.

Visitors can turn on full lights from sunset to 12:30 am, for one hour at a time, by pushing the button on the light tower.  The lights will flash for ten seconds before dimming again.

Parking & Public Transport

Free parking is available at the rear of the park. Enter via Glover Avenue (please note, parking controls apply during SACA events).  The Skate Park is also close to tram, train and bus stops.
