Opening of Oaklands Estate Reserve Upgrade
The whole community is invited for the official opening of the recently upgraded Oaklands Estate Reserve with City of Marion Mayor, Kris Hanna from 11am to 1pm on Saturday 25 May 2019.
The event is an opportunity for the community to celebrate the reserve’s $825,000 upgrade. The work completes the 12 hectare Oaklands Reserve Precinct which contains a wetland, skate park, education centre and rotunda.
Improvements to the reserve include two kilometres of paths, a new playground and nature play areas with logs, ropes and a timber climbing frame. There are three new shelters and two new barbecues. The Japanese Garden now contains water and sand play areas.
Artworks reflecting the site’s Kaurna and European heritage have also been installed.
In line with the community’s wishes, the improvements have sought to enhance the natural beauty of the park.
Activities on the day include:
- Free barbecue
- Orienteering
- Arts and crafts using natural materials
- Kite flying
- Face painting
- A complimentary coffee
Parking:
Enter via the Parade West off Oaklands Road and continue to the car park adjacent to the reserve. Parking is also available at Hendrie Street Reserve (5 min walk away).
