Patritti Reserve Playground | Dover Gardens | Review

patritti reserve play

Patritti Reserve is a fully fenced playground with historical touches honouring the remarkable impact of Patritti Wines, which is conveniently located right next door!

Review by Angelica-Hazel Toutounji

Named in honour of the Patritti Family, Patritti Reserve isn’t just a fun play space but a purposeful playground perfect for children of all ages.  Giovanni Patritti founded Patritti Wines in 1926 and the family will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026. Not only is Patritti Wines a household name, it boasts the title of one of Australia’s last remaining suburban wineries. Knowing and understanding the history of Patritti Wines makes visiting the playground that much more special as the play space features nods to its neighbour and wine related elements throughout the design. This can be seen in the cork steppers, wine press slide and a musical panel.

Visiting the reserve we instantly noticed how well the space caters to the community. There is a large oval with a walking track around it, a cricket pitch with two nets, a fitness area and of course the playground. The fitness area features equipment such as monkey bars, a balance beam and trampoline.

Moving inside the fully fenced playground we found a sensory garden with wobbly mirrors, musical play equipment, a games panel, blackboard and ornamental grape vines. For more active play, the kids loved the carousel (with accessible features), the swings (one for baby and one standard size), the stepping logs and best of all the big red slide with talking tubes.

The playground is fully fenced, contains BBQ facilities, sheltered seating, a drinking fountain, toilets on site and ample off street parking options.

Not only does Patritti Reserve provide a great place for families to play, being located next to Patritti Wines means you can easily call past before or after your visit and enjoy a wine, fortified spirit, alcohol removed wine or non-alcoholic juice. For a lively atmosphere visit Patritti on a Friday evening or weekend to enjoy live music and a bite to eat from an onsite food truck.

What we like about it:

  • fully fenced, great facilities, shade, seating and next door to a great suburban winery
  • the space feels well thought out, spacious and we loved the historical elements weaved throughout the design

Things to consider:

  • This playground isn’t huge and could get busy during peak times being located next door to Patritti Wines

Location:

55 Scarborough Terrace, Dover Gardens
