Peppa Pig Playdate Review
Being big fans of Peppa Pig we were excited to hear that the pig herself was coming to Adelaide and and we decided to check out what all the fuss was about.
Peppa Pig Playdate is billed as a super-sized interactive experience and for little Peppa Pig fans we think it probably is the ultimate Peppa Pig experience. Stepping into the room at the Adelaide Showground we were immediately transported to the world of Peppa and her family and friends. And her many fans!
Read on to see photos from our trip to the Peppa Pig Playdate, plus our tips for making the most of your time there.
Peppa Pig Playdate – what’s it all about?
It’s essentially a great big open plan area which has been turned into a world of Peppa Pig.Β A lot of thought had been put into theming the different ‘zones’ within the room and there were elements of the TV series throughout with the same colour schemes, characters and locations.
There was lots of exploring to be done. Children of all ages were whizzing around enjoying this little slice of Peppa Pig’s world. There were slides, a garden maze,Β muddy puddles to jump in, bikes to zoom around on, and train rides. You could also sit on a picnic rug and watch a musical show starring Peppa Pig and George.
Bouncing in muddy puddles was a lot of fun and a nice alternative to a bouncy castles for the smaller Peppa fans.
The five year old thought the train ride was the highlight of the Peppa Pig Playdate experience. Parents will enjoy the ride too.
Watching the show from the comfort of the train.
We visited the inside of Peppa Pig’s house where there was heapsΒ to do including sorting recycling into boxes and investigating the contents of Peppa’s fridge and cupboards.
In the midst of all the excitement you could find opportunities for quiet time, too. There were tables set up with pictures to colour in, and musical instruments to play.
The toddler was keen on some retail therapy. So many Peppa Pigs, so little time!
It’s worth a short queue for the chance to go and visit Peppa Pig as a small group. We played games with Peppa including I Spy, and there was of course some (pretend) jumping in muddy puddles. Everyone had a chance to have their photo taken with Peppa.
Play & Go tips for enjoying Peppa Pig Playdate
Your kids will probably enjoy this a lot more than you do
The toddler was totally in her element and loved racing around checking out all the activities, and hoping for a glimpse of Peppa Pig. The five year old also had a great time and we did see some older children there too. We think it’s probably best for the under-fives.
Be prepared to queue
Numbers are limited for each session however we had been forewarned to expect queues for some of the more popular activities.
The toddlerΒ had no concept of queueing, or patience for lining up to get on the train or to visit Peppa Pig. We’d recommend if you take littler kids that you split up and tag-team whereby one person queues for the activity and the other keeps an eye on the kids until you’re at the front of the queue.
Another tip is to wait until the show starts, and then you’ll probably find that the activities like the train or the bike rides have less people waiting for them. Or you could pay extra for Priority tickets.
Bring some money for Peppa Pig merchandise
There were also plenty of opportunities to purchase Peppa Pig merchandise from hats to backpacks and of course the ubiquitous stuffed Peppa Pig toys. We thought they were pretty well priced and it was tempting to buy mementos of our Peppa Pig experience.
Bring your camera/smart phone when it’s time to be Peppa-razzi!
If your little person loves Peppa Pig you’ll want to capture these memories. My little Peppa fan has been talking of little else since.
Keep an eye on your children
It goes without saying that in a busy environment like this that it’s easy to momentarily lose track of a little person. I always like to snap a quick photo of my children in what they’re wearing that day so that if the worst case scenario did happen and they wandered off I could easily describe to other people what my children look like.
The staff at Peppa Pig Playdate
We found the staff to be warm and helpful and generally fabulous. They seemed to be really enjoying their work and were very kind to our children.
