Pick Your Own Cherries | Cherry Season | Adelaide Hills & Fleurieu Peninsula

Pick Your Own Cherries - Cherry Orchards South Australia

Pick Your Own Cherries around Adelaide and find your local Cherry Farm Gate Sales in South Australia.

Christmas is coming early for all the cherry lovers out there! The 2025/2026 cherry season starts in November and there’s nothing that says Summer is on the way more than when sweet, juicy cherries are available.

Many growers are prepping for their first pick in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out this month for opening dates. South Australian Cherries are in season for approximately 8 weeks from mid November to January, so there’s only a small window to pick your own or purchase delicious, fresh cherries direct from the grower.

Please read the following important notes:

  • Pick Your Own and Shed Door Sales offerings will vary between growers and may change at any time
  • ALWAYS check in with each grower’s social media page BEFORE heading off in the car and visiting
  • Farm Gate sales generally start in November and continue past Christmas throughout the Adelaide Hills
  • Most Pick Your Own opportunities will start in December and continue through the New Year

SA CHERRY GUIDE

Before you visit our wonderful cherry growers, please double-check with the farm directly to ensure they are open for business and not all ‘picked out’ beforehand.

PICK YOUR OWN CHERRIES & SHED DOOR SALES

Similar to picking your own strawberries, this is a great family outdoor activity to enjoy together around the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula.  Cherries are only available for about 8 weeks each year, so make the most of the limited season.

Please note that the orchards are all open at different times – many do not do ‘Pick Your Own’ until after Christmas. Cherry supply is dependent on weather and demand, plus when different varieties of cherries are ripe.

Note: please check individual cherry growers’ Facebook pages and websites for opening times.

Growers in orange denote not confirmed for opening during the 2025/2026 Cherry season.

Tips for Picking Cherries

  • Wear closed flat shoes when you are picking your own cherries, as well as a hat and sunscreen.
  • Our tip would also be to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, especially the kids – juicy red cherries are delicious but they can stain clothes.
  • Also bring your own bags, boxes and/or esky to transport your cherries home.
  • Check ahead with the orchard for payment options – cash and/or eftpos facilities.
  • You can also take a picnic to some venues to enjoy while you are there. The orchards are a great place to explore – look out for koalas and other wildlife at some places.
  • Weather warning – farms may close on days of extreme or catastrophic fire danger. Check the fire danger rating on the CFS website or Bureau of Meterology website.
  • Don’t smoke or take your pets to the orchards.

Important: Remember to check first with the cherry orchard via their website, Facebook page or ring them directly (contact details are given above and in the Fresh Fruit App) to make sure they have ripe cherries available to pick BEFORE travelling there. Cherries, like all fruit, are dependent on weather conditions and some orchards may get busy and sell out.
