Schnithouse Hilton | Family Friendly Restaurant With Playground | Review

Schnithouse Hilton

Schnitzels  ✔ Playground ✔ Casual, easy get together ✔

by Sharon Harrington

Schnithouse Hilton is the ideal venue for an easy family or friends catch up. The menu specialises in everyone’s pub favourite, schnitzels, has a playground for kids and a big screen TV for sport-watching diehards.

We ventured out for lunch on a cold, slightly wet day, but this did not stop the kids from having a ball in the outdoor playground area.

The playground is set up in the enclosed beer garden and can only be accessed from inside the restaurant, which gave us peace of mind that the kids were safe and secure while enjoying themselves.

Though the weather was not kind to us that day, the outdoor space would be a perfect place to sit outside on a balmy summer’s evening and have a meal while the kids have a climb, slide and explore.

For a venue that is called Schnithouse, the menu is actually quite extensive, including pasta, seafood, burgers, salads, hot dogs, nachos and chicken wings.

The schnitzel menu is enormous! There are the standard old-school schnitzels (chicken, beef, pork, seafood and vegetarian) plus a ridiculously long list of gourmet schnitzels. See menu below for an idea!

My group opted for the Vegetarian Linguine, Giant Hot Dog, a good cross-section of schnitzels (the Lazy Schnit, Zorba the Greek, Kilpatrick, Clive Parma), kid’s Sliders and Chicken Nuggets. Everyone’s feedback was that the meals were large, tasty and just what they would expect from a good pub menu.

The kid’s meals are good value at $11.90 (August 2021) and include a drink and a gelato cup.

Various desserts were also available including waffles, pancakes, cakes and even a schnitzel shaped donut!

The interior is an inviting, modern mix of warm wood tones, black feature walls and vintage-style exposed globe lighting. Pictures hanging throughout the venue show the owner’s German Hofbrauhaus inspiration. The atmosphere is casual and easy going.

File Schnithouse away in the memory for next time you are after a family friendly venue that will keep the kid’s occupied without resorting to electronics!
