Sculptors @ Crystal Lake Sculpting Symposium
Nine sculptors over nine days creating unique stone sculptures.
Watch 9 Australian sculptors transform massive stone into lasting creations of beauty and imagination over 9 days, and support emerging Australian sculptures. There will be a range of family friendly activities and a kids program available at this event. Entry is by gold coin donation.
Activities include:
- A Crystal Lake Gallery exhibition including the sculptors marquettes
- A Photography competition
- View “Water Song” Yoshin Ogata sculpture on the Adelaide Hills Sculpture Trail
- Visit the Art and Sculpture Exhibition
- Kids “Come and Try” creative (Saturday 13 April (see below for information))
- Children’s Activity trail
- Picnic among the pines by the beautiful Angas River
- Walk along the trails
The Kids Program:
While the 9 sculptors work their magic on big hunks of rock, kids can go and create too. The Kids Program runs on Saturday 13 April from 10am to 4pm.
The target group is primary school age children, although there are some activities suitable for kindy kids if accompanied by an adult. A range of fun and creative activities will be available at the ‘Kids Tent” on the oval at Crystal Lake Park.
Children’s Activities:
- Build your own rock sculpture
- Make a mosaic
- Create your very own pet rock
- Make music with percussion rattles
- Design a mini rock garden
- Create and photograph a free-standing temporary sculpture
- Draw a sculptor at work
- Win prizes – complete a sculpture quiz and guessing game
- And more.
Program activities will be available in a flexible way according to children’s interests and the availability of helpers, including guardians, each day. There is no set schedule and no need to book.
For safety reasons the number of people in the “Kids Tent” will be limited at any one time, and parents/carers must sign children in and out.
