Seaside Park Playground Moana | Review
By Jo Parkinson
Ahoy, me hearties! Come aboard the pirate ship at Moanaβs newest playground, Seaside Park. This treasure in the south is just waiting to be explored!
The playground is located on a large block in part of a new housing estate and is suitable for children of all ages. There is a great range of equipment to play on and lots of space to spread out. The best thing about Seaside Park is the incorporation of nature play and natural elements, combined with more traditional play equipment. There is also a path around the play areas which is perfect for scooters and bikes.
The main attraction is the big pirate ship. Complete with slide, steering wheel and binoculars, your little pirates will be able to keep a lookout to the ocean and hills from the top deck. Making the most of the lower deck, you will find little swings in a cabin underneath. The front of the ship is on ground level, perfect for the youngest crew members. There is a big sandpit next to the pirate ship that the little ones also enjoy, including a few toys to play with.
If you have children who are older, they will love the mini ninja course area. It has a rock-climbing wall on one corner, a balancing rope, and a climbing net to climb up the sides to the top.
There is another piece of equipment that is great for the older kids (and adults!), a circular spinner that you hang from. Itβs great fun to spin around, seeing who can stay on the longest!
On the other side of the playground is a set of more traditional play equipment. This includes two slides, climbing wall and nets, as well as a bridge.
There is also a swing set, balancing board and a rope climb for something a bit different.
The nature play elements include large stepping stones, wooden logs to climb over and around, and a water pump area, however, this was not working on the day we visited.
A large metal slide is also popular, with children given the option to climb up stone steps or a smoother surface on the opposite side.
The playground has lots of areas for adults to sit and watch the children and even some tables and chairs, two of which are undercover. There is also lots of grass if you wanted to bring a picnic and a water bubbler in case you get thirsty.
Seaside Park is a fantastic play space with a great variety of play equipment that is sure to keep the kids entertained for ages.
Things to consider:
- Seaside Park is not fenced
- There are no toilets
- As the park is quite new, there are not many trees so there is no shade
