Semaphore Seaside Shellabration | Review
The Semaphore seaside shellabration provided the perfect place for fun in the sun with a marine theme that filtered through out and a mix of fun activities for young and old!

Semaphore was well and truly buzzing with families riding on the train, playing in the playground and soaking up the shell-abratory atmosphere during this year’s Semaphore Seaside Shellabration.
Semaphore is a sweet little seaside town with so much to offer families. A sunny Sunday plus a Seaside shellabration provided the perfect drawcard for visitors to enjoy the foreshore and all of the marine themed fun. Entering the shellabration there was excitement in the air. Food trucks surrounded the site, market stalls were plentiful and there was music, bubbles and entertainers roaming around the grass.

Moving towards the centre of the event we were met with a DJ spinning upbeat music and performers dancing about adorned in pirate attire. We took a seat, grabbed a bite to eat from a food truck offering fresh seafood and we got set up for a fun afternoon.

After devouring our food, we made our way over to meet Serenity the fairy who was blowing bubbles in the air. Not only were the kids able to run around popping bubbles there was also a mat and buckets set up for kids to make their own bubble fun.

After playing amongst the bubbles we went to check out the plaster tent that was offering kids the chance to paint plaster moulds in seashell shapes. After the plaster fun we visited the kid zone bumper cars followed by the ocean activities laid out by the Henley Beach Marine Discovery Centre. There were shells and specimens of sea creatures placed all over the table and the kids could get a closer look with magnifying glasses and microscopes. Next to the table there was a kids fishing game, a soft play marine creature area and a virtual reality set up. All of these activities were free and made for a full afternoon of family fun.

To end the day we called past Copenhagen for an ice cream and donut treat before getting in our car to drive home.

Overall we have nothing but positive things to say about the Semaphore Seaside Shellabration and we are so glad we went. Not only was it a lovely way to spend an afternoon, the sheer number of free activities and kid focused attractions made the day cost effective and fun for both adults and kids. This event was also large enough to be interesting but small enough not to cause overwhelm and it was well planned, clean and stress free. The ocean theme made it all the more fun, especially for young marine enthusiasts.
Keep an eye out for next year’s Semaphore Seaside Shellabration
