Square Circles Beneath the Sand: William Barton and the Australian String Quartet | 6 Jul 2017

Following two acclaimed performance premieres at this year’s Adelaide Festival for Chamber Landscapes and last year’s Port Fairy Festival, Barton joins the Australian String Quartet to present his original work “Square Circles Beneath the Sand” for didjeridu and quartet.

Especially commissioned for this line-up by UKARIA and the Klein Family Foundation, this spine-tingling piece showcases Barton’s honed mastery of the didjeridu and its unique sound.

The program of music for didjeridu and strings features solo, quartet and quintet works by Australian composers William Barton, Sarah Hopkins, Carl Vine and the late Peter Sculthorpe.
