Sticky Fingers Bakery & Sweet Spot Xpress | Park Holme | Review
Flying under the radar, this pair of dessert shops, just a few doors apart, is a sweet-tooth paradise, serving up old-school donuts, decadent slices, and a rainbow of American-style candy.
Review by Carla Caruso
If a sugary treat is on the agenda, these two dessert shops, just a short stroll from each other in Park Holme Shopping Centre, make a fun stop for the whole family.
First on our list was Sticky Fingers Bakery, a spot I’d heard about from a colleague. The otherwise unassuming bakery may raise an eyebrow with its name and quirky logo (fingers coated in golden glaze), but step inside and you’re welcomed by friendly service and the irresistible aroma of freshly baked goods.

The shelves are lined with delights such as savoury pastries, turnovers, meringues, and generous fruit pies (from blueberry to apricot), along with the must-try Bee Sting, recommended by the owners. Decorated sponge cakes are also available for birthdays and other celebrations, with only fresh cream used in all the sweet treats.
During our visit, our family of four started with lunch before indulging in dessert. Between us, we enjoyed two beef, bacon and cheese pies, a sausage roll, a spinach-and-cheese roll, and a cheese kransky – all more than satisfying. Then came the treat I’d heard the most about: the donuts.

Huge and just $3 each (50 cents extra for sprinkles), they taste like old-school Balfours donuts – soft, buttery, and perfectly fresh. Chef’s kiss! We also enjoyed a delicious peppermint slice.

The bakery is small but offers a few indoor and outdoor seats, plus plenty of parking. Be sure to get in early before the best donuts sell out!
A few doors down, Sweet Spot Xpress is a riot of colour and American candy. Stocked with Tootsie Rolls, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Takis, soft drinks, slushies, ice cream, and more, it feels like stepping straight into a scene from a US movie (just note that there are no prices on the shelves).

You’ll leave with a lighter wallet, but kids who are wide-eyed and completely spoiled. After all that sugar, a stroll to a nearby playground or park is a great idea, and Play & Go has plenty of reviews to help you choose the best spot!
