Raising Literacy Australia connects with the local community through The Garden on Red Gum Road book launch.
Raising Literacy Australia (RLA) has officially launched the book, The Garden on Red Gum Road, at a local community garden, The Precinct, to an audience of young families. In partnership with City of Playford, the launch celebration featured author Phil Cummings and illustrator Danny Snell.
The Garden on Red Gum Road provides a heart-warming insight into the value and relevance of community gardens in our local neighbourhoods.
Cummings was inspired to write the story after observing a Melbourne community garden in action and witnessing the community engagement and interaction that occurred between those visiting the garden.
Cummings, who has published seven books through Raising Literacy Australia’s publishing house Little Book Press, spent over eighteen months developing the story.
For illustrator Danny Snell, developing the illustrations spanned twelve months and involved numerous visits to community gardens across Adelaide.
The Garden on Red Gum Road has been crafted for children 3-6 years old and is now available to purchase from Little Book Press, starting from $18.90 for paperback.
