About The Heights Observatory
The Heights Observatory consists of two observatory buildings. The Papaelia Observatory is a traditional domed observatory housing a 14-inch f/10 Meade LX200 GPS ACF Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. The Ingham Family Rooms is a roll-off roof building that doubles as a classroom for students studying astronomy. It contains a superior quality 12.5″ Ritchey-Chrétien Cassegrain telescope from Optical Guidance Systems on a Losmandy HGM 200 mount. In addition to the permanent observatory buildings, The Heights Observatory also has a large portable 16-inch Meade reflecting telescope, a 10-inch Dobsonian and a variety of other visual and imaging equipment.
The Heights Observatory is located in the grounds of The Heights School at Modbury Heights. Enter via the driveway on Augustus Street and park adjacent to the oval.
