The Moseley Igloos – A Unique Dining Experience at Glenelg

Leave the outside world behind as you step into your own private dining retreat near the sea at The Moseley Igloos. These cosy igloos are beautifully adorned with fairy lights and comfortable furniture and you’ll soon feel right at home as you relax on the couch, listening to your own playlist and watching the flickering of a faux fireplace and faux candles.

There are two glimmering Moseley Igloos just outside The Moseley Bar & Kitchen in Moseley Square and they can accommodate up to 8 people each. With each Igloo session lasting up to 2.5 hours, there’s no need to rush. Simply settle back into your temporary abode, peruse the menu and relax and enjoy quality time with family or friends while being looked after by your own personal waiter.

For such a cosy space, the igloos feel quite roomy and teens will be keen to make a beeline for the comfy couch which would also be great for smaller kids – just bring a couple of books and some toys to keep them entertained.  And speaking of comfy, the dining chairs are draped in faux sheepskins – no sore derrière here!

The drinks menu is quite impressive and we’d recommend you check out the Igloo Exclusive Cocktails. We opted for the intriguing Winterberry Martini. It looked and tasted divine with its smoky dome and delicate flavours!  For those wishing to enjoy a lovely drink without alcohol, you can head straight for a flavoured mocktail, or grab a juice or soft drink.

There are a variety of menu options to suit all tastes and dietary requirements and the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating.

We shared a very generous and delicious serving of Chicken and Chorizo Paella, full of flavour and with a crusty bottom. We also grabbed a generous serving of chips with sauce which got the nod of approval for texture and flavour.

There are a few menu choices to consider:  a 3-course set menu at $60pp; 5 Course Feed Me Option at $70pp; or Shared Paella at $30 pp. You can also choose to order à la carte from the inside ( The Moseley Bar & Kitchen) menu which features classic dishes like fish and chips, burgers, pizza, steak, chicken schnitty, and salads. There is also a kid’s menu with all the usual offerings like nuggets, fish, burgers, pizza and chicken schnitzel. There are also gluten-free and vegetarian options and you can also advise staff of any other dietary requirements.

What we loved:

What we loved about dining in the Igloo was the ability to pop our own music on and chill out in our own space with our favourite people and some great food and drink.

We think The Moseley Igloos offer a great dining option for families with teens but also those with younger children as there’s a little bit of wiggle room for kids in the igloo with a couch (the igloo was set up for 4 people on this occasion). Bring a book and a couple of toys and they could easily play on the couch while you enjoy your first drink! If you’re booking for 8 people, please check with staff about the furniture configuration, particularly if you have young children.

The other thing that’s great about the Igloos is that you can hear each other speak! No fighting over “too loud” music, clanking chairs and noisy conversation. For people who prefer a bit of quiet, this looks like a good option. We dined at the 8pm session during the week when Moseley Square was very quiet.

Open hours & booking

To book at the Moseley Igloo during the week (Monday to Thursday), a minimum spend of $150 is required upfront when booking. This is fully redeemable on food and drinks during your visit. Dining on the weekends (Friday to Sunday) requires a minimum spend of $300 and each igloo can be configured to fit a maximum of 8 people

The Moseley Igloos will remain onsite, outside The Moseley Bar & Kitchen, Glenelg until 4 September.
