The Royal Princess Ball by Once Upon A Princess
Review by Susannah Marks
This year’s Royal Princess Ball was back by popular demand – time has marched on since the last Royal Ball which was held three years ago.
Tickets sold like hotcakes – luckily Once Upon A Princess put on a second session to accomodate all the royal guests. We were excited to find an invitation in our mailbox from the Fairy Godmother to this year’s Royal Princess Ball.
The ball was such a magical occasion we thought we would share some pics with you.
There were so many touches of glamour like getting to walk down a real red carpet as we entered the venue.
Cinderella’s glass slipper was on display as was Sleeping Beauty’s enchanted rose.
The Krystal Palace was transformed into a dazzling ballroom that was fit for royalty with sparkling fairy lights all around, and tables dressed with white table-cloths and bejewelled table decorations. Miss 5 was suitably impressed.
Meet & Greet with the Princesses at The Royal Ball
Meeting the princesses was what my daughter loved the most about our afternoon at The Royal Ball. She did say that she loved everything. But if forced to choose one thing it was getting to meet each of the princesses individually and to chat to them. It was really special seeing the magic come alive for her and knowing that she would be going home with memories that would stay with her for a lifetime.
Not one but two handsome princes!
There was great excitement as each of the princesses entered the ballroom. So exciting that Miss 5 forgot about the fairy bread for a few minutes. As well as platters of fairy bread and cupcakes on each table there were hot and cold food options including salad and crudités – plus orange juice or a glass of wine for the grown-ups.
Glitter Nail Station
Who doesn’t love having their nails done? Miss 5 thought that the instant dry nail polish was a really special touch and she enjoyed selecting the most glamorous colour from the options available.
With the nails looking fab it was time to have some glitter face paint applied.
Photo Opportunities
There were loads of fun photo opportunities. As well as having your photo taken with the royal princesses there was also a photo booth where you could pose in front of a floral display. Once you’d snapped your pic you could use the touchscreen to add in options like a gold mask or a tiara and then have the photo printed out instantly as well as sent to your smartphone by SMS.
The wait to meet the “Snow Sisters” was definitely worth it for these two.
Time to Hit the Dance Floor!
The lights were dimmed and the Fairy Godmother called all the little royal guests onto the dance floor where they got to dance and sing with the royal princesses.
Miss 5 thought it was super cool getting to learn some dance moves with the princesses and getting to twirl and swirl on the dancefloor. After twirling along to some very regal sounding classical tunes and practising some elegant curtseying it was time for some princesses to let their hair down and bust a move to some party favourites.
The royal guests loved singing along to favourites like “Get Your Sparkle On”, “Princesses Want To Have Fun”, “Let it Go”, “How Far I’ll Go”, “Can’t Stop The Feeling”, and “Shake it Off”.
Take Home Gifts
Just like that the fairytale came to an end and like Cinderella running away from the ball at the stroke of midnight we were out the door and on the road home. Miss 5 chatted all the way home about what a great afternoon she’d had. She was delighted by the take home gifts of a fairy wand and necklace and a party bag with colouring in activities. Her favourite gift was a replica of Cinderella’s slipper which she is treating like it’s a real glass slipper.
We are already looking forward to next year’s Royal Princess Ball.
All the princesses were given a silver or gold shell with a “Heart of the Ocean” crystal inspired necklace.
