The SoccerActress | Free Workshop | 15 Mar 2026

Lucia Mallardi is a former professional soccer player and soccer freestyler, now performing The SoccerActress – an autobiographical one-woman drama-comedy show that merges character comedy, freestyle soccer, and storytelling.

In this show, the soccer ball becomes not only a symbol of discipline and power, but also a living tool of expression, blending movement, rhythm, and storytelling to explore gender politics, queer identity, and the beauty of athleticism as an art form. It is a tribute to female resilience, but also a universal story.

The show was first created in 2018 in Italian, and since then Lucia has performed it in Rome, Naples, Genoa, and at the prestigious Piccolo Teatro in Milan. It was also presented in German in Berlin. In August 2025, the English-language version premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (The FootballActress), where the show received strong reviews and Lucia was nominated for Best Actress by DarkChat.

The show had its U.S. premiere at the United Solo Theatre Festival – Fall 2025 in New York City at Theatre Row (Off-Broadway).

The SoccerActress performed at the 2026 Adelaide Fringe to positive audience and media responses and now plans to remain in Australia for another ten months, touring the show across several festivals.
