Tom Gleeson – Gear: Adelaide Fringe 2024
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An easy five stars for Gleeson’s ‘dodgy opinions’!
Tom Gleeson has been entertaining audiences at the Adelaide Fringe for many, many years now and it’s no wonder his shows sell out. Well known for his TV programs’s Hard Quiz and Taskmaster, he is at his absolute best when standing alone on a stage, in a tent in Adelaide, with a microphone in his hand!
Be prepared to laugh for a full 60 minutes as he shares his many ‘dodgy opinions’ and recounts amusing tales of past events in his life. Even if you have seen Gleeson live before, this show is well worth watching for the new material he so cleverly weaves together and presents with finesse.
It’s an absolute treat to witness Gleeson deliver his hilarious stories up close and personal and his trademark heckle comebacks are icing on the cake. This comedy king turns everyday situations into hilarious one liners and the way he also laughs at his own jokes somehow makes them even funnier.
Gleeson, as you would expect, is the consummate professional. His stories are relatable, believable (or are they?!) and just down right hilarious. His years of experience allows for a treasure trove of memories and stories to delve from and he could make even the most mundane topic funny and entertaining.
As with any Fringe show try not to arrive late – especially when it is a stand up comedian on stage because yes, you will be made fun of and you won’t be able to sneak in unnoticed! Gleeson loves a heckler and he is lightning quick, so if you’re brave enough to say something back his comebacks are always going to knock you down a peg or two!
Suited more towards adults but certainly appropriate for older teens, the show is held at the family friendly time of 6.50pm each night, so grab an early dinner beforehand or stay back after the show and enjoy the Garden.
If you love stand up comedy then don’t miss this show. Highly recommend!
