Twig and Stick Nature Craft Sessions at Kirinari Community School

During term three Twig & Stick will be running nature craft sessions involving four activities. Wood whittling, stick fairies, clay creations and natural loose parts play. Children will rotate between each activity during the session and all creations can be taken home.

Whittling Workshop

Introducing children to the safe use of whittling knives and peelers. Using real tools to engage children in the art of whittling and the mindful experience it offers.  Children will create a talking stick or stick person to keep during the workshop.

Stick Fairies and Weaving

Children will create fairy stick people or learn the weaving skill of gods eyes using wool, reeds, raffia and sticks. Children will take these beautiful creations home. Both activities are great for learning knot skills and fine motor skills.

Clay Creations

During the clay workshop children will be shown the joy of creating small creatures with clay and how to make a simple pinch pot. Clay is air drying so children are able to keep their creations.

Natural Loose Parts Play

Children will let their imaginations run wild whilst playing with the natural loose parts collection. Wooden rounds, shells, sticks, string, feathers, seed pods and hessian. An unstructured activity with free play to create what they desire.

Children will be divided into small groups and move from activity to activity so all get to partake in each.

Depending on the weather, all activities will be held outdoors.

Cost: $75 for the term

Book at the Twig & Stick website here.

Parents will be required to remain on site with their children for each session.
