Victor Harbor Council Library – Review

The Victor Harbor Council Library is a wonderful resource for families, whether you live nearby or if you’re just visiting the Fleurieu. As well as books for all ages, you’ll find a huge array of DVDs, CDs and puzzles to entertain the whole family, amongst other facilities.

When stepping into the Victor Harbor Council Library, the first thing you’ll notice is that it’s modern and spacious, with floor to ceiling windows so there’s plenty of natural light and views of the outdoors.

If you’re on holidays in Victor Harbor or anywhere in the Fleurieu Peninsula, perhaps in one of the neighbouring towns like Middleton, Port Elliot or over at Normanville, a visit to the library would be a great option. There’s FREE fast Wi-Fi here to use – handy for teens chewing through their data and it’s great if you need to get some work done but your holiday house does not have Wi-Fi. They have a printer, scanner and photocopier if you need, and also computers in case you left your laptop at home. You can read magazines and newspapers too.

Don’t forget, you can borrow books here, and the best thing is, you don’t have to return them before your holiday is up. Using the OneCard Membership system, you can return the books to any library in SA – so you can take your time to enjoy your books, and drop them off to your local library when you get home. How good is that?

Dedicated Children’s Area

The Victor Harbor Council Library’s dedicated children’s area, called the Encounter Kids’ Space is especially welcoming for families. There is a fantastic wooden ship ‘The Trimmer’, which little ones will love to play on.

There are two large treasure chests beside the ship – one is filled with some of the most popular books for young children, while the other one is full of imaginative building toys.

Holidays are a great time to tackle a jigsaw puzzle and there is a huge selection of them here.

The library is a great destination to visit, especially when the weather is not so good – it’s a great option to get out of the house; pick up some books and other entertainment; or use their facilities while you are there.

They even have a café just outside so you can get a coffee fix, snack or ice cream.
