Westival – Family Friendly Festival

Sugar, Spice and all things nice at Lockleys Oval this April with open air cinema, music, delicious food and free fun for the kids! A new community festival in Adelaide’s west is launching in April with an amazing program of FREE family entertainment over two brilliant weekends.

Whether you’re a fan of the flicks, a foodie fanatic, a superhot hero(ine), or looking to keep the kids entertained – Westival 2022 has something for you.

The City of West Torrens is offering three free events at Lockleys Oval* in Lockleys starting on Friday 1 April.

Catering to savoury lovers and sweet tooths, April Forks Day! will feature 15 of Adelaide’s finest food trucks, plus a selection of lip-smacking craft beverages.

Westival’s free open air cinema features a family-friendly flick shown on a giant ten-metre cinema screen. The entertainment changes with each event and includes free activities for the kids, food trucks and live music.

Fire and Spice returns for its second year in an expanded format at Lockleys Oval with plant and produce stalls, cooking demonstrations by Callum and Themis from Sprout, Adelaide’s hottest food trucks and a licensed bar.

The following weekend, Sunday 10 April, the team at Bloom will host the Bloom Block Party at Thebarton’s popular Bloom Café with live music, artisan markets, cocktail capers and food trucks – with free entry!

So, shake out your favourite picnic blanket, gather your family and friends and read on to start planning a festival of fun in the west.

Fork on The Road presents April Forks Day! | Friday 1 April 2022

Kicking off on Friday 1 April will be a food truck festival – April Forks Day! Featuring 15 of Adelaide’s finest food trucks, plus some lip-smacking beverages (licensed), April Forks Day! will feature live music and entertainment for all ages.

Entry is free and priority tickets can be secured through Eventbrite.

Take a night off the cooking tools and treat yourself to a tasty tour of cuisines from around the world.

Food Trucks:

Prefer to pack your own picnic dinner? You’re most welcome, but no BYO alcohol is permitted at the event.

The entertainment program includes live performances from Lilac Cove, Mark Curtis and The Flannelettes, Maisie B, Isaac Thomas and Lucinda Grace.

There will also be free activities for the kids including face painting, the Amazing Drumming Monkeys, The Nylon Zoo‘s inflatable storytelling theatre and takeaway craft.

Open air cinema (PG) | Saturday 2 April 2022

Saturday 2 April will see an open air screening of ‘The Croods, A New Age’, with the movie screening starting at 7.30pm. The event will kick off at 4pm with food trucks, a licensed bar, live music and entertainment for all ages and will finish at 9pm.

Entry is free and priority tickets can be secured through Eventbrite.

Grab a spot in front of the giant cinema screen one last time for this family-friendly prehistoric adventure.

Before you settle in to watch The Croods – A New Age (PG), treat your ears to live tunes from local acts Siberian Tiger, St Jacques, Aries, Jess Johns, and the Atlantic Street Band while the kids enjoy with The Nylon Zoo, and onsite face painters. There will also be free takeaway craft for children.

On tonight’s menu? Food truck treats from Coffee and crepe, Hokey Pokey, Uncle Doc’s, Gang Gang and drinks will be available from the Fork Bar.

Fire & Spice | Sunday 3 April 2022

Fire and Spice returns for its second year in an expanded format with plant and produce stalls, cooking demonstrations by Callum and Themis from Sprout, Adelaide’s hottest food trucks and a licensed bar.

Entry is free and priority tickets can be secured through Eventbrite.

Enjoy a soundtrack of live tunes from Ricky Albeck and The Belair Line Band, Bermuda Bay, Stormhorse, Terry’s Pocket and Lucas Day.

Free entertainment includes The Nylon Zoo, CircoBats roving circus, Amazing Drumming Monkeys, face painters, and takeaway craft.

Following a cooler than usual growing season, we’re expecting the superhots will be in full flight!

Bloom Block Party | Sunday 10 April 2022

Bloom is bringing together the best of the block and showcasing local makers, producers and musicians for all to enjoy at its cafe and garden in Thebarton. 

The Bloom Block Party will take over Winwood Street and surrounds with a full program of  Makers and Producers markets, food trucks, laneway bars and 2 live music stages to keep you entertained all afternoon.

Sip on some local brews from Bowden Brewing and Imperial Measures Distilling (of Ounce Gin fame) and savour the flavours with pizzas from Anchovy Bandit, chargrilled treats by Bloom or vegan toasties and pastries by Lator Gator. Top it off with a grazing board by Lockwood General or a sweet treat from Sassi Icecream.

A new, uniquely curated Makers and Producers market will also feature at this event. This market will feature some local favourites from the westside, as well as new artisans and producers from across SA. You’ll be able to stock your pantry full of locally made produce from Nice Pickles, Moss Brew kombucha and cold brew, Westside Mushies, Continental Tarallis, Pepita Organic nut butters, Wattle & Wheat sourdough, Gordi Babka, Basque by Leo burnt cheesecake. You can also pick up a special gift or treat for yourself from artisans Homethrown by Jen, Sunsets and Eve, Craft Make Do, Pineapple Vintage or See Someone Studio.

Enjoy your ‘day of rest’ chilling on Bloom’s lawns to Siberian Tiger or Atlantic Street Band, or join the vibes on Winwood Street with beats by the Busseys, Malibu Drive & Uke Death Squad.
