WESTMINSTER SCHOOL - MUSIC NIGHT (LOW)

Westminster school students perform Beatles tribute with Australian music icons.

Music icons Glenn Shorrock and Doug Parkinson will perform a special Beatles tribute concert in Adelaide in August with students from Westminster School. This year marks 50 years since The Beatles made their first appearance in Adelaide.

Around 800 people are expected to attend the event – Westminster’s annual Music Night – to be held on Friday 15 August at the School’s state-of-the-art Michael Murray Centre for the Performing Arts.

Accompanied by Westminster’s award-winning student concert band and big band, vocal jazz ensembles, string ensembles and choirs, Mr Shorrock and Mr Parkinson will perform a series of Beatles arrangements. These include ‘Let It Be’, ‘Dear Prudence’, ‘Golden Slumbers’ and ‘With a Little Help From My Friends’.

Glenn Shorrock has a career spanning 40 years in the music and show business industry. He was a member of pop groups The Twilights, Axiom, and Little River Band, and is also a solo performer. Glenn continues to perform regularly across Australia and has twice been inducted into the ARIA Music Hall of Fame.

Doug Parkinson is one of Australia’s most well-regarded performers, with a 30-year career in music and theatre. He has performed in several bands including A-Sound, The Question, and Doug Parkinson in Focus. In 2001/2002, Doug was voted Classic Rock Performer of The Year at the Mo Awards. He won his third Mo Award for Contemporary Rock Act of the Year in 2004.

“We are thrilled to host two of Australia’s most well-regarded rock music icons,” said Westminster School Principal Mr Steve Bousfield. “This is a unique opportunity for our students to perform alongside two talented and well-known performers. “Our upcoming Music Night will be a special tribute concert to the world’s number one pop band, The Beatles, and we’re very excited to see what the students and our Head of Performing Arts Mike Degenhart have planned.
“This will be an exceptional night of music and entertainment and we expect tickets to sell fast – don’t miss out.”

Tickets are $35 for adults and $20 for concession.
