W H Holmes Reserve Playground in Rosslyn Park.
Tucked away in the middle of a leafy, green suburban block is a hidden playground with plenty to keep younger kids occupied.

W H Holmes Reserve occupies a large green space in the middle of a suburban block, with large, lawned areas stretching out to quiet roads north and south, and bordered by back fences and tennis courts on either side. Right in the middle, under the shade of several trees, is a lovely playground with a variety of equipment. A lot of the equipment is smaller and lower to the ground, making it ideal for toddlers and younger children.
A stack of cube-shaped climbing walls provides a great feature, with challenges for smaller kids right up to older kids who will definitely scale it to the top for great views!
A large collection of play equipment sits adjacent to the climbing cubes and provides a small slide, bigger slide, plenty of climbing ropes, bridges and a small flying fox.
A tic-tac-toe board sits at one end, and there is a small storefront for creative play as well.
A toddler swing and regular swing are nearby, as well as some log stepping stones. There’s also a big olive tree here just waiting to be climbed!
The flying fox, while small, is quite high up and smaller kids will need a bit of a boost to reach the handle.
There’s also a little see-saw here, and plenty of benches to sit on. There’s a small covered picnic shelter and water fountain.
Adjacent to the playground are a couple of tennis courts, and more importantly – a toilet block!
While the playground isn’t fenced, it is placed far away from any roads, and those roads are quiet suburban streets. The large lawned areas provide a buffer in both directions and also provide a great place to run around or kick a ball.
The playground lacks shade sails, but the trees provide natural shade for much of the day. It’s quiet and cool here, even on warm days.

Parking is available along Park Avenue to the south, or Ayr Street to the north. Both these streets can be accessed from Taylor Terrace, which connects Kensington Road and The Parade.
