Beckman Street Deli in Glandore. Work up an appetite for the delectable dishes at this family friendly eatery by the tramline in the south-west.
Review by Carla Caruso
We recently tackled the Mike Turtur Bikeway as a family and this is one more foodie stop along the way.
Although, you could just walk or drive to this lovely suburban eatery too! (Check out our other tramline cafΓ© review — of Forestvilleβs Dear Daisy — here.)
The Beckman Street Deli sits adjacent to the tramline, which the bikeway runs alongside, in Glandore.
Itβs one of those welcoming corner-shop cafΓ©s, which feels like a home away from home (except youβre not the one slaving over the hot stove!). The interior is themed in calming blue and grey and features retro decor and lots of wood.
Local artworks, which you can purchase, adorn the walls and you can also buy homemade condiments, like quince jam.
There are plenty of places to sit too, including two rooms inside and a sunny outdoor area.
The cafΓ©βs open from 7am until 4pm on weekdays (and from 8am on the weekends), so its focus is on the brekkie and lunch crowds.
Between our family-of-four, we tucked into a ‘Benny the Greekβ (a twist on eggs benedict, with lamb-and-spinach rice and olive tapenade included), a chicken toastie, a steak sandwich (with fried onion rings on top), and an egg-and-bacon roll (with potato crisps inside).
We definitely didnβt go hungry! My kids got only halfway through their sangas. One also had a salted caramel milkshake, which probably didnβt help matters. Even my husband struggled with his steak sandwich. Itβs certainly value for money, and unbelievably tasty fare to boot.
My boys are already planning to return and sample the fried kipfler potatoes with aioli.
Other menu options include ricotta pancakes, sago pudding, avocado on rye, soup of the day, a falafel bowl, and more. The breakfast and lunch dishes are available all day. Children under 12 can also choose from the $10 kidsβ menu.
For drinks, there are smoothies, milkshakes, Bickfordβs classic sodas (supporting a South Aussie brand), juice, coffee (iced and hot), tea, wine, beer, and cider.
Weβll be wheeling back in again soon, for sure!
