Fleurieu Cherries Farm l Pages Flat l Review

Discover Fleurieu Cherries at Pages Flat, South Australia.

A visit to the fabulous Fleurieu Cherries farm is a fun and relaxing way to spend a Sunday with family and friends. They have cool play areas for kids, a cute bar and café but the best part… the most delicious and freshest cherry ice-cream you will ever taste!

Review by Jo Parkinson

Situated on Pages Flat Road on the scenic Fleurieu Peninsula, this beautiful farm has belonged to the Desmond family for nearly thirty years. Their passion for their business is shown througout the immaculately kept property, and they will happily chat to customers as they run the bar and café, making the place feel warm and inviting.

Visiting the Farm

Fleurieu Cherries is currently open on the last Sunday of each month, but check their Facebook page for regular updates. You know you’re at the right place when you spot the giant cherries at the entrance! At the end of the driveway is a good-sized car park and beautiful rose garden, with the café and gorgeous grassed area right behind.

There is plenty of room to spread out, with chairs and tables provided, as well as a picnic rug and cushions and even a marquee, which is great if you want to be undercover. If it’s a tad chilly then sitting next to the fire pit is a cosy option.

You can let the kids run around on the grass, or there is also a sandpit with toys as well as a tyre swing to keep them entertained. You can even have a hit of golf, for just $5* you get 10 balls to try your luck at getting a hole in one, and yep, there are prizes on offer if you manage it! (*as at April 2024)

Cherry Picking

Fleurieu Cherries offer ‘Pick Your Own’ and farm gate sales during the cherry season.  The growing season is early December to mid January, but will vary each year.

Pick your own is run on certain days only – depending on what fruit is ready and the weather forecast. Before you travel to the farm gate, please check the website to confirm if pick-your-own is available, as circumstances can change rapidly (ie ripe fruit for that day may have been picked by early afternoon).  Bookings are required, please organise groups of less than 15 people. They will give you a demonstration of how to pick and show you to the area of the orchard they are picking.

The venue also hosts private functions and is the perfect spot for a wedding, check their website for more information.

Food & Drink

Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic and enjoy the lush, peaceful surrounds of the farm. However, drinks must be purchased from the venue. Pull up a bar stool and have a chat to the super friendly staff while you enjoy a nice glass of wine, beer or soft drink.

Or head inside to Blossom’s Café and try a yummy cherry or chocolate milkshake, the kids will love them! There is also tea and coffee and even a cherry hot chocolate on offer. Skim, lactose free, soy and almond milk are available. If you want a cool drink you can choose from juice, water or cherry coke.

You won’t be able to resist the cute cherry biscuits, they are simply delicious. But if you are after a real treat then grab a piece of the scrumptious cherry ripe slice. To give you an idea of how good it is, our kids ate it before I could take a quick pic! There is also a range of yummy cherry jams and relishes to take home and enjoy.

Our favourite part of our visit to the farm was the cherry ice-cream. The ice-cream kiosk is located around the corner of the building, but orders are taken at the café. Once paid for, you get a little token to take to the kiosk in exchange for the ice-cream. It comes in a wafer cone and was so creamy, fresh and delicious.

Fleurieu Cherries is a great, family owned business with so much on offer and we highly recommend a visit next time you are out for a Sunday drive.
