Sherry Park playground in Mylor has undergone a fantastic upgrade and now boasts a ninja warrior course and toddler-friendly playground in addition to the existing BMX track, meaning there’s something for everyone – little kids and big kids.

Sherry Park sits adjacent to the Mylor oval and is situated right in the middle of Mylor with easy access to the oval facilities, general store and cafe. The new playground equipment (2024 upgrade) includes a challenging ninja warrior-style obstacle course for older kids, and a great toddler-friendly playground for the little kids.
The obstacle course even has it’s own timer. Press the start button and race through the monkey bars, slanted steps, wobbly walkway, tunnel, rope incline and warped wall, before sliding down the fireman’s pole and racing back to see your time.
The monkey bars are a bit high for smaller kids, but the other obstacles are achievable, while still providing plenty of challenge for even the tallest of kids.
Nearby you’ll find some swings, including a solid basket swing and toddler swing, and a brightly coloured melodic xylophone.
The toddler-friendly play equipment includes a small slide, climbing net and climbing wall, stairs and lots of animal activity boards.
There is a sheltered bench seat for a rest, and plans for new shelters to be added.
Further down into the reserve you’ll find the fantastic BMX bike track. This track has some challenging jumps around the perimeter, and easier tracks with gentle slopes in the centre. The whole area is unpaved, and suited to bikes rather than scooters – you’ll need a bit more clearance than a scooter can provide!
There is parking within the reserve, and plenty of parking at the adjacent oval. A new footbridge has been created between the oval and the reserve. It’s worth crossing over this footbridge – see if you can spot the secret fairy door near the bridge!
Make sure you check out the restored Boot Maker’s cottage too – a bit of history located in the reserve.
Things to Consider:
- Sherry Park is not fully fenced, and Strathalbyn Road can be busy. You’ll need to keep an eye on small children.
- There’s plenty of soft fall in the playground, but the parking area and the rest of the reserve is unsealed and not suitable for wheelchairs. Strollers may also be a bit difficult to maneuver.
- There are toilets at the adjacent oval, on the far side of the oval.
- There’s lots of natural shade in the reserve, but you might need sunscreen and hats in summer.
- The reserve is in a valley and it gets quite cold in winter. We recommend bringing a towel to wipe down any dew on the play equipment. It also gets icy when there’s a frost.
- Make sure you bring bikes and helmets for the BMX track.
