Community Open Day at the Port Dock Railway
The upgrades to the Port Dock Railway Station, spur line and bus interchange will be marked with a community event at the new station on Saturday 24 August 2024. Entry to local museums including the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide, Clipper Ship City of Adelaide, South Australian Aviation Museum, South Australian Maritime Museum will be free at certain times during the event.
Train services will commence on the new spur line from Sunday 25 August 2024, operating every 30 minutes, 7 days per week.
The community open day will feature:
- Welcome to Country
- Junction Community Centre workshop
- Local dance performance
- Emergency Services vehicle displays
- Free sausage sizzles (gold coin donation
for drinks) - Free face painting
- Coffee and food trucks
- Local business raffle and voucher prizes – drawn at the main pavilion at 1.30pm
- Stationary train located at the new Port Dock Railway Station – be one of the first to
board a train at the new station.
Museums in the Port – free entry!
- National Railway Museum – 10am to 2pm
- South Australian Aviation Museum – 10am to 4pm
- Clipper Ship City of Adelaide – 10am to 3pm
- South Australian Maritime Museum – 10am to 2pm
The NRM is a short walk from the main event area, and a free shuttle bus will run between all other Museums in the Port during the event. See the map below:
The Redhens will be running at the NRM, for a gold coin donation (or EFT donation). The NRM will also be offering cheaper admission prices from 2pm to 4pm ($10 for adults, $5 for concession and children). Scouts will also be onsite with their fantastic barbecue.
Some free on-street parking will be available on Lipson Street (south) and Barlow Street, Port Adelaide, as well as surrounding streets.
