BRIXPO | Adelaide Event for LEGO® Fans | Review

Hosted by the Southern Bricks LEGO® user group, Brixpo is Adelaide’s fan-built LEGO® event and was a great way to start off the school holidays.

Review by Adaire Prosser

There was so much to see and admire with stalls across the six basketball courts housing a wide range of LEGO® creations. From fan-favourite displays depicting scenes and characters from Star Wars®, Harry Potter, Minecraft and The Lord of the Rings, to moving battery powered trains, A Rube Goldberg machine and an enormous sky scraper. Our four year old LEGO® obsessed reviewer loved the range of Marvel superheroes.

As well as the fan-built displays to admire, there is a free play section with a huge LEGO® table, a ramp to make your own car or vehicle and race it down, as well as remote control LEGO® cars to drive. For an additional fee, there is also a Stop-Motion studio to make your own mini-movie.

One cool feature of the event was collecting a passport for the Yellow BRIXPO Road and finding stamps at stops across the event. When the passport was filled up, event goers were able to use the collected pieces to assemble Popcorn, the Unicorn. These kits are very popular, so it is recommended to pre-purchase for an additional fee when booking tickets. Memorabilia LEGO® pieces are also available for pre-purchase for an additional fee.

Also available for purchase were a range of LEGO® sets. It is a great opportunity for LEGO® fans who have saved some pocket money as there were some discontinued and hard to find sets available.

The location is well set up, with lots of space between stalls for large crowds and prams. There were plenty of food and drink vans set up in addition to the onsite kiosk. There is also a great playground at the recreation centre if anyone needs a play stop between all the LEGO®.

Keep an eye on our annual BRIXPO listing for information on the next event.

What we like about Brixpo

  • Yellow BRIXPO Road (recommend pre-purchasing with your ticket order)
  • Free play LEGO® area
  • Lots of pop-culture LEGO® displays – Minecraft, Harry Potter, Star Wars and more

Things to consider

  • When booking tickets, your ticket is for a specified 1 hour entry. No early entry is permitted. You can stay until the end of the day (5pm).
  • For people with sensory needs, the 9am sessions on both Saturday and Sunday are Sensory Friendly – quieter and less crowded.
  • The stalls are spread apart with lots of room between. There is plenty of room for prams even when it gets busier.
  • There is a large playground located outside if anyone needs to stretch their legs.

St Clair Recreation Centre, 109 Woodville Rd, Woodville South.

There is a large, free carpark onsite. Other travel options include Bus or Train (Woodville Station).
