Botanista Botanical Emporium | Port Noarlunga | Review
Botanista Botanical Emporium in Port Noarlunga is a magical shop full of indoor plants, fairy garden supplies and the chance to make your own terrarium.
Botanista is a small shop packed with fun items to look at, from a huge fairy tree in the middle of the store, to everything you need to build a miniature terrarium or fairy garden of your own. There’s a terrarium bar on site, where helpful staff can assist kids in creating their own personalised terrarium right there in the shop.

The first thing you’ll see when you enter the shop is the beautiful fairy tree. Make sure to get a photo on the toadstool, then look for the little fairy doors hidden around the tree.

There are pre-made terrariums to look at and buy, and lots of indoor plants, big and small.

Check out the terrarium bar, where you can make your own terrrarium! You choose your glass container (three sizes available), select your plants, and add any decorations, moss, or other additions. The staff will guide you through the process, advising how many plants will suit your container, and showing you how to layer the substrate. You have a choice of different sand or gravel, including brightly coloured gravel.

The cost of the terrarium bar depends on the size of the container you choose, how many plants you add, and whether you add moss or decorations. The costs of each component are clearly laid out. We chose a medium sized container with two plants, some moss, and two decorations and the total cost was $38 (as at August 2025).

There is another magical tree further back in the shop. Back here, you’ll also find lots of fairy garden decorations.

If you choose to make your own terrarium, it will be boxed up and you’ll receive comprehensive care instructions.

Botanista also runs terrarium birthday parties and workshops. We attended a paludarium workshop previously, and the paludarium is still going great, nearly three years later.

What we like about Botanista
- It’s a gorgeous shop to browse, with plenty to look at for little ones
- You have the chance to get creative with terrariums, without having to source all the components yourself (also no mess to clean up!)
Things to consider
- The plants and glass containers are delicate. Small children will need to be closely supervised while in the shop.
- If you are interested in workshops or birthday party packages, these need to be booked in advance via the Botanista website
Coffee and food options nearby
- The shop is right on the main street of Port Noarlunga, with lots of cafes and bakeries nearby
- The Jubilee Park Playground is not far away, and the Witton Bluff boardwalk is nearby too
Location:
18 Gawler Street, Port Noarlunga.
