Party Food | Kids Birthday Party Grazing Platter
If you’re on Instagram you may have seen all the gorgeous photos of grazing tables or platters. They’re basically platters or whole tables piled with all sorts of yummy food that you can graze on.
Unlike a structured party food table where you have lots of different bowls or plates of individual serves, and you are matching colours to a theme, this style of party food is a whole lot simpler. It looks just as good though and if you pick foods that the kids will love, it’s super popular.
You can basically throw on anything you think the kids will like and of course, they can help with a list. When I say βthrow onβ I mean this literally. When I was preparing these platters I was running out of time and guests were arriving so as you can see, things were just chucked onto those platters (one is just a large wooden cutting board) but it adds to the rustic look of the grazing platter style. Anything goes!
Here are the foods I included to start your list:
sushi, chips, watermelon, nectarines, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, nashi pear (because they don’t go brown quickly), pretzels, chocolate covered pretzels, caramel popcorn, Tiny Teddies, mini Chicken Crimpy, mini Raspberry Frogs, Unicorn Bacon (rainbow fruit sour straps), mini Oreos, chocolate waffle rolls, cheese, Jatz and French Stick bread slices (get these at Baker’s Delight and they can slice them up for you).
It works really well when you have a large group β thereβs something for everybody in amongst the platters. With kids’ party food I generally always use ”mini sized” items – if there’s a mini version of something I’ll use that eg the mini Chicken Crimpy and the mini Oreos. Kids only need a little portion of everything and they only have little fingers.
I also made a party bag platter just before home time. This was a huge platter of mini sized chocolates and lollies. The kids were given a bag each to fill up with their favourite treats to take home. I totally forgot to take a photo of this!
Want something a bit healthier? How good does this fruit platter below look? As you can see this style of party platter is really simple and fun to make. Our guests really enjoyed grazing during the party, and discovering all the different things to nibble on.
