Adelaide Multicultural Eid Festival | Review

The Multicultural Eid Festival is all about delicious food, fun games, unique shopping opportunities and family fun all-round!

Review by Angelica-Hazel Toutounji

For Muslims around the world Eid is a time for togetherness, spiritual renewal, cultural traditions and sharing joy with family and friends near and far. Adelaide’s Multicultural Eid Festival is a fun event for young and old to come together to enjoy and everyone is welcome!

Held at the Adelaide Showground, the festival encompasses the entire Jubilee Pavilion and spills outside with food trucks, camel rides and so many fun games for kids and adults to enjoy.

Making our way through the gates we were instantly hit with the delicious smell of exotic flavours wafting through the air. There are food trucks representing a bunch of different cuisines including Moroccan, Lebanese, Turkish and South American… just to name a few! Not only were we spoilt for choice with food, there were so many vendors offering gluten free items and once we had our savoury fix we washed it down with a bubble tea and sweet treat.

After filling our tummies, we made our way to the Attaqwa Scout group and the kids (and adults) burned off some energy enjoying the outdoor rock climbing wall. As the kids and adults took turns channelling their inner Spiderman, we noticed camel rides taking place across the grounds.

Moving inside the pavilion the kids were delighted by the colourful frenzy of stalls with cultural items, glitzy bangles, toys and so many different sugar laden treats! After securing their unlimited ride pass we made a bee line for the wacky shack, followed by the dragon ride, spin zone and bouncy castle. We also discovered a free soft play area that was offered by IQRA College and a perfect place for small children to play.

We had such a fun afternoon running around after the kids and enjoying all the games, rides, and activities that we lost track of time. We hadn’t planned to stay until nighttime, but the kids were having so much fun we couldn’t drag them away. Leaving the festival, we found a bunch of other rides aimed at bigger kids keen to experience a thrill, including the kamikaze, sizzler and bumper cars.

Overall, we had an incredible experience as a family enjoying the festival and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun weekend activity with kids.

The Adelaide Multicultural Eid Festival is an annual event usually held over two days in April each year.
