Adelaide Riverbank Precinct | Highlights for Families to Visit
Adelaide Riverbank and Festival Plaza Creative Trail
The Adelaide Riverbank Precinct stretches from Gilberton through to Bonython Park and Bowden in the north west and is home to some of Adelaide’s most iconic buildings and recreational spaces. Adelaide is such a compact city, so you can easily wander the length of North Terrace and visit quite a few of these places along the way.
Some of our favourite places to visit along Adelaide’s Riverbank Precinct:
- Adelaide Botanic Garden
- Botanic Park
- Adelaide Zoo
- Art Gallery of South Australia
- South Australian Museum
- Migration Museum
- The Anzac Centenary Memorial Garden Walk
- Government House
- Festival Plaza
- Popeye Boat Ride
- Adelaide Oval
- Adelaide Gaol
- Bonython Park

The Anzac Centenary Memorial Garden Walk along Kintore Avenue was opened in 2016. This 280 metre grand promenade showcases a huge black granite wall along which each 1,020 vertical marker stands for 100 Australian servicemen and women who have died at war. The wall features images, while pavers are embossed with the names of the places they fought. Through the fence you can see the grounds of Government House.

If you walk to the corner of North Terrace and King William you can find Government House. The garden is open to the public for tours on specific dates in March and November.
On the opposite side of the road along North Terrace is Parliament House. Free guided tours are available at 10am and 2pm on weekdays and sittings of both houses are open to members of the public.

At Play & Go Adelaide we make every effort to provide accurate information to the best of our knowledge at the time of publication. We recommend confirming times, dates and details directly before making any plans as details may be subject to change.
