Barossa Valley Chocolate Company Outdoor Cinema | Review
Barossa Valley Chocolate Company & Benni’s café is a fantastic destination for school holiday fun. Grab an easy dinner, load up on some tasty treats and spend the night snuggled up watching a twilight movie.
Review by Angelica-Hazel Toutounji
There is something so special about watching movies on the big screen. Even more so when you are doing so under the stars and even more so again when the location is set in a chocolate factory.
Once you step inside the Barossa Chocolate Company’s doors you are instantly transported into chocolate heaven. There is an eye catching chocolate fountain behind the counter, a range of brightly coloured chocolate products and even glass windows so you can catch a glimpse of the manufacturing process. They offer every kind of chocolate you could think of, in a range of combinations, shapes and products. To put it simply you are spoilt for choice and tempted at every corner.
Benni’s Café
Moving past the retail space is the bright and beautiful Benni’s café. This newly refurbished café offers a range of meals including lunch, brunch, decadent treats and even a gelati bar filled with their award winning flavours. Benni’s café is a great place to dine as it features indoor and outdoor dining and a menu that caters to kids, vegetarians and gluten intolerant diners. Whilst waiting for your food and the movie to begin adults can indulge in a wine tasting by local Tin Shed Wines. Children on the other hand can get puzzling with their giant puzzle or colour in with the supplied paper and colourful pencils. If you visit on a movie night they offer delicious pizza, chips and wedges for a pre movie meal.
Outdoor Cinema
As you make your way outside you come across a ping pong table and games area. Once outside, the setting features grass for the kids to run around and play on and a section of seating for movie viewers. For general viewing don’t forget to pack a rug and some chairs, or for a more premium experience, the VIP tickets include a comfy garden chair and a double scoop of gelati or sorbet. They even have cute igloos set up for a lovely indoor outdoor dining experience the whole family will enjoy.
All in all, Barossa Chocolate company not only delivers the goods when it comes to quality products, they serve as a destination in their own right, offering a diverse array of memorable experiences in a warm and welcoming setting.
Things to consider:
- Once the sun sets it does get cool quite quickly so bring extra blankets and layer up to avoid the chill.
- As it s a long drive and a late night, its not a bad idea to bring the kids pyjamas with you in case they fall asleep on the drive home.
- Seating is a first come first served basis, so it’s a good idea to get there early to secure the space that you want.
- The vineyard lawns open 90 minutes’ prior for guests dining at Bennis or 45 minutes before for movie only viewers.
- No outside food or drink is allowed to be brought with you.
- Accessible toilets are available on site and also baby change facilities.
