Barristers Block Wines | Family-Friendly Dining in Woodside | Review

Barristers Block Wines is a family winery in the Adelaide Hills with a child-friendly restaurant situated amongst shady lawns, a sandpit and animal enclosure.

Review by Claire Davill

Barrister’s Block Wines has a beautiful cellar door and grounds just north of Woodside in the Adelaide Hills. There’s plenty of family friendly features here, and if you’re riding the Amy Gillett Bikeway, it’s a convenient stop right along the bike path.

The cellar door and rustic dining area provide great sheltered areas to sit, but if the weather is good, the dining area under the huge shade tree is a must. It’s a beautiful spot for a lunch break, and the dining options include charcuterie platters, small share plates and wood fired pizzas.

The restaurant also offers a kid’s menu with options such as chicken tenders and chips, pizzas and fish and chips. All kid’s meals come with a drink. There are high chairs available for little ones, and the winery is dog friendly as well!

Nearby there is a huge, shaded sandpit with toys to occupy the kids. There are also expansive lawns to run around, and a few picnic tables too.

The winery has a huge animal enclosure with sheep, goats, deer, alpacas and geese to say hello to. Bertha the sheep is particularly friendly, she’ll come right up to the fence to greet you (right next to the sign identifying her!). There’s also a great chicken coop to check out, in the centre of the lawns.

Location:

141 Onkaparinga Valley Road, Woodside. Open 7 days a week – check cellar door opening hours here.

There is plenty of parking behind the cellar door. If you are arriving by bike from the Amy Gillett Bikeway, the entrance is well signposted from the path.
