Bentley Reserve | Holden Hill | Review

Bentley Reserve in Holden Hill has a fully fenced and shaded playground, plenty of tennis and basketball courts, and an excellent skate park.

Tucked away in the backstreets of Holden Hill is a surprisingly large reserve with a lot to offer. There’s a fully fenced playground, a skate park, a large lawned area, exercise equipment, basketball and tennis courts, and even a dog park for furry friends.

Access the park from either Gentilly Street, walking through the native garden with a contemplative sitting log, or from Bentley Drive, where there is ample off-street parking.

The playground is fully fenced and fully shaded. It’s a slightly older playground, but there’s plenty of equipment packed into a small space. You’ll find two swings, a track-based flying fox, challenging monkey bar rings, a dual slide and lots of climbing opportunities.

Adjacent is a liberty swing. This is accessible with a MLAK key.

There are multiple exercise equipment stations located around the park, including some monkey bars near the playground. There’s also a little free library nearby.

The reserve includes a tennis court, basketball court, netball court and cricket net.

Across the large lawned area, there is an excellent skate park. This skate park includes LED lighting and a shelter at one end.

There’s even a fenced dog park here, with separate sections for small and large dogs. Even your dogs get a slide and tunnels to play in!

The reserve has a large toilet block, barbeques and picnic shelters with colourful seats. The Holden Hill Community Centre is nearby, and hosts numerous programs and activities.

What we like about Bentley Reserve:

• It’s a quiet, out of the way reserve with plenty of facilities.
• The playground is fully fenced and fully shaded.
• The skate park is ideal for younger kids that are keen to try out their scooters, bikes or skateboards in a quieter, friendly environment.

Things to consider:

• The playground contains bark chips for soft fall, making it less accessible for strollers.
• The playground is fully fenced, but the rest of the reserve is not.
• Bring bats and balls for the courts, and skateboards, scooters or bikes for the skate park.
