Bowman Park Nature Playspace

This magic space is nestled on the edge of a creek dotted with ancient River Redgums and home to a number of different birds and other wildlife.

The Nature Play Space constructed in Bowman Park, Crystal Brook is now open. This collaborative project between the Port Pirie Council and the Bowman Park Management Committee has been funded through the Drought Communities Program and will provide a fantastic new play space for local families and tourists alike.

This will be a great spot for families to have a play, being a short detour from the Princes Highway (A1) if you’re travelling through the Iron Triangle to Pt Pirie, Pt Augusta or Whyalla, or heading to the Flinders Ranges.

Climbing Tree (the guys who built the amazing Morialta Nature Playground) spent a busy 9 weeks building the playground, after designing the space three years prior. It’s a wonderful community project, with local community members contributing to the space, including local sculpter Adam, local Stone Age builders, and individuals who donated rocks, farm equipment and other treasures. The local kindy will be using the space weekly too.

The playground includes unique pieces of equipment made from natural resources, encouraging climbing and imaginative play.  There are shaded BBQ facilities and also public toilets.  You’ll find food, drinks and coffee options in Crystal Brook. Kupsch Bakery on Bowman Street is a favourite for locals and visitors.
