Discover Breakout Creek/Purruna Pari | West Beach | 15 Nov 2025

Breakout Creek Upgrade

Breakout Creek/Purruna Pari at the westernmost end of the River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari has undergone a major transformation over the past few years. Explore the area during a community event in November.

This special stretch of the river has been the focal point of a redevelopment that’s turned an artificial channel into a more natural looking and functioning waterway. With 245,000 new native plants and trees, 2 habitat pools and 2 stormwater wetlands to support native fish and water plants, it’s a big win for the local environment and the community.

The precinct now also includes more than 6km of trails perfect for walking, running or riding, picnic shelters and viewing platforms to relax and take in the landscape, and a series of stunning Kaurna artworks to connect the community with the land’s traditional owners.

At the BreakOUT – Discover Breakout Creek/Purruna Pari event, discover the area and take part in free entertainment and activities. There will also be food and drink available.

Activities include:

  • Dinosaur puppets – meet 6 baby dinosaurs
  • Nylon Zoo
  • Face painting
  • Bubbles
  • 3 Nature-inspired Craft Zones
  • Live music
  • Food and drink

Event Access:

Enter via Apex Park, 616 Burbridge Road, West Beach, via the accessible boardwalk or the stairs. The event zone can also be reached from the surrounding side streets between Seaview Road and Tapleys Hill Road at West Beach/Henley Beach South/Fulham.
