Bush Magic Playground North Adelaide | An Oldie but a Goodie

Bush Magic Playground North Adelaide

The Bush Magic Playground in North Adelaide, just next to the Adelaide Aquatic Centre, is a much loved playground.

Sure it’s not shiny and new, but it has great fun play equipment which is particularly suited to younger kids under five. We love it for this age group as it’s fully fenced.

Bush Magic Playground Maze

Running around through the maze as a bit of a hide-and-seek game is always popular.

There are many things for little ones to climb and explore – frames, tunnels, small slides at a height which is just right for them. All of the equipment has good safety rubber, bark chips or sand underneath to keep things safe.

The sandpit with an interactive climbing frame with points for collecting and pouring sand is always popular with sand lovers. The low monkey bars gives the little ones a chance to swing like monkeys (where often at other playgrounds, they are just too high for them to reach).

Ramps, steps and slides, plus climbing ropes provides opportunities for working those gross motor skills and playing some fun games.

Shelter and shade

There is a shelter in the centre with table and benches. Otherwise you can sit on the grassy hill where there are some trees for shade. Unfortunately none of the play equipment has shade coverings.

Flying fox and liberty swing

In the photo above on the left you’ll see an old style little flying fox which the older kids will enjoy – it’s quite high up so definitely needs help from an adult. A liberty swing is available for use – the key can be retrieved from the Aquatic Centre.

You can also find toilets, car parking and get coffee and snacks from the Aquatic Centre adjacent to the park. Just outside of the fully fenced playground, underneath the shade of the pine trees you will find a couple of bbqs and table & benches.

Bush Magic Playground Summary

The Bush Magic Playground is an old favourite and is particularly great for toddlers. While some of the equipment may be a little faded in colour, I don’t know any child who would notice or care about this. With plenty of equipment that is just the right height for younger kids, plus hills to run around and roll down, it’s an oldie but a goodie.

One Response to “Bush Magic Playground North Adelaide | An Oldie but a Goodie”

Warning, went there a couple of times with friend & our just 2 year olds. While great as enclosed the eqippment not as safe for real littlies as suggested. There are many unexpected parts of equipment with gaps where little ones can fall through & fall heavily which is what gappened to my friends toddler- hitting her head. Also it is older style eqipment with slippery metal steps. Not as good as newer playgrounds in the city for safety , many of them have come up in standard tremendously over the last 1-2 years, some of those are enclosed. Still more toddler safe eqipment needed around the place 🙂
