Cavalia | A Magical Encounter between Human & Horse | opens 9 October 2013

cavalia-australia2013

Cavalia is a fresh mix of equestrian and performing arts, multimedia and special effects. Conceived by Normand Latourelle and often labelled an equestrian ballet, Cavalia is a spectacular and moving tribute to the relationship between human and horses throughout history, a dream of freedom, cooperation and harmony. In a fairy tale setting filled with poetry and emotion, the show innovatively integrates acrobatics, dance, aerial stunts, live music and equestrian arts. Under the White Big Top, a 50-metre stage permits the horses to express themselves in all their splendour, nobility and strength, often completely free.

The White Big Top under which Cavalia presents its marvellous procession is 30 metres high (the equivalent of a ten-story building) and it accommodates up to 2,000 spectators.  The impression is that of a majestic white cathedral or a fabulous castle, its four towers extending up to the sky. On a 164 metre wide playground, which allows for and protects their freedom of movement, the horses express themselves with grace and power, while interacting playfully with the artists.  Inside is a 70 metre wide screen that serves as a backdrop for the stunning projections and special effects.

Cavalia is a mesmerising production suitable for the whole family.  In regards to children attending this event the Cavalia website offers the following advice:

Each child is different and it generally depends on the individual’s level of attention and ability to sit still for an extended period of time. The show lasts a little over 2 hours with an intermission half way through. For some young children it is not a problem and they are fascinated by the show. Others may find it is too long for their attention span. We realize each child is an individual and you will know best how comfortable he/she would be at a show of this length – sitting still for about an hour straight, twice in one day/evening. Please keep in mind that the show is typically full so the child cannot walk around once the performance has started.

Visit the official Cavalia website here for more information including videos, photos and everything you need to know about the show.  The Adelaide season opens on October 2nd 2013 – for a full list of dates, times and ticket prices click here.
