Charlesworth Park Playground | Campbelltown | Review

Charlesworth Park in Campbelltown features a large hidden play space with a shaded playground and lots more!

Review by Claire Davill

Tucked away in the backstreets of Campbelltown is a surprisingly large park with a playground, exercise equipment, tennis court, basketball hoop, cricket nets and even a soccer goal.

The playground is almost fully shaded, and contains lots of challenging equipment for kids of all ages.

The main playground equipment includes a wide slippery dip, climbing net, shop window and tethered climbing ropes.

Climbing hoops, monkey bars, balance poles and sliding poles are also included.

You’ll also find a springy pelican, swing and toddler swing and spinning pole under the main shade sails.

There are also additional monkey bar rings, tethered ropes, a balance beam with obstacles and a ninja-grip trainer nearby. The whole playground feels a bit like a ninja warrior training station!

Don’t forget to take along your sports equipment and make the most of the facilities which include a basketball hoop, large area of lawn with a soccer goal, tennis courts and cricket net.

A walking path forms a loop around the park where you will find several exercise equipment stations. These are designed for adults, but kids will enjoy them as well.  Bike riding is not permitted.

There’s a single toilet here, but unfortunately no changing table. There’s also barbeques and a picnic shelter.

Things to Consider:

  • The park is only partially fenced. A fence extends along Reserve Road, with open gates at each end, and a low pine-log fence runs along Park Street.
  • The main playground has bark chips as soft fall, so it is not fully accessible and you’ll need to keep an eye on little ones who like to pick up and eat the bark chips.
  • Remember to bring balls for the basketball hoop and soccer goal. The cricket net is also great for batting and bowling  practice.
  • The path around the park is not sealed, and signs indicate you are not allowed to ride bikes along here.

Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:

  • The Hidden Leaf Cafe is located nearby on Clairville Road.
  • The Newton Shopping Centre is located nearby on Newton Road and contains multiple cafe options.

Location:

Reserve Road and Park Street, Campbelltown. Off-street parking is available along Park Street.
