Chillax Coffee Corner | Northgate Village | Review

chillax cafe entryChillax Coffee Corner is the calm, cool and small child-friendly coffee shop in the North East of Adelaide that you and your family will love. Not only is the coffee great, the food is delicious, they have a sweet little area for retail items and best of all they also have a kids corner!

Review by Angelica-Hazel Toutounji

Located on the outside of the Northgate Village Shopping Centre, Chillax sits in close proximity to Woolworths, Snap Fitness, ChemPlus and in an area with ample parking and easy access to toilets and baby change facilities. Stepping foot inside Chillax Coffee Corner the first thing we noticed was that the place had a good feel. At the time of our visit classical music was playing, which added to the calm ambience, the space felt light and bright and most importantly the entire area, even the kids’ area was nice and clean. This isn’t always the case with kid friendly cafes so it made this place stand out and it also meant it was somewhere we wanted to linger longer.

Moving onto the food, we ordered the weekly special of fish and chips and this was absolutely devoured by my family. The serving was decent and included battered whiting, chips and a delicious salad. We also ordered a babyccino, hot chocolate and a couple of coffees too. We did make note that the coffee was Monjava and their marshmallows are vegan friendly, which is a great plus for plant based diners.

Everything we had was top notch and the service was warm and quick. Looking around the café on a Sunday afternoon the space was a hive of activity. This place is clearly very popular with locals as nearly every seat in the house was taken and diners seemed to be enjoying themselves too.

The space is small in size but spacious enough so you don’t feel like you are on top of other diners. There is inside and outside seating and the kids corner is placed at the back of the café and includes a small play kitchen, some books, a walker, whiteboard and a bunch of other random toys best suited to small children.

On the day we visited we were fortunate enough to sit by the retail area and got chatting with Helen, the lovely owner of Lizzie Law Creations. Helen kindly gifted my daughters some earrings that she was clearing from the shop and this made my daughters day. So if you do visit, definitely have a look at the retail offerings as they have some great items and are made by local businesses.

All in all, we had a fantastic experience at Chillax and highly recommend this café. It has a lovely feel, great food and the fact that it caters to young children is icing on the cake. So next time you are looking for a coffee catch up spot with small kids in tow, give Chillax Coffee Corner a go!

What we like about

  • Relaxed vibe, good food and coffee and most of all the kids corner

Things to consider

  • Chillax Coffee Corner is located on the outside of a shopping centre, the toilets aren’t inside the cafe but within the shopping centre complex and not far at all. There are baby change facilities there and accessible toilets
  • This cafe is small and understandably gets busy during peak times

Location:

Shopping Centre, shop 1/177-195 Fosters Rd, Northgate
