Full Stop.
Girl Guides South Australia with support from the Commissioner for Young People and Children will host a FREE Period Awareness and Education Day for all girls aged 10-17.
Full Stop. is more than just period talk. They want to inspire their girls to be bold and confident, to not be ashamed or scared of their period. Period! The day will include interactive information on periods and menstruation, product guidance and samples, yoga and fun activities, all while meeting new girls. There will be informative and fun presentations by Demi Spaccavento from Bright Girl Health and the team from Taboo Period Products.
There will be an optional movie attendance at the conclusion of the day (5 – 6:30pm).
What is period poverty?
End Period Poverty, Full Stop. Period Poverty refers to the issue of women and girls lacking access to sanitary products, menstrual hygiene education, washing facilities, and waste management. Everyone can help end period poverty in South Australia and Girl Guides SA are getting started by raising awareness within the community and breaking down the stigma attached to menstruation.
Although nearly half of the worldβs population menstruate at some point in their lives, menstruation presents significant challenges when individuals lack the information, resources, infrastructure, and social support they need to manage their menstrual health and wellbeing safely and with dignity.
This is a free event but make sure to register. This event open to girls aged 10 – 17.
Wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel. Lunch and afternoon tea is provided.
