Funlab: Hijinx Hotel, Strike Bowling & Archie Brothers | Rundle Place | Review

If you’re searching for a school holiday hotspot that delivers fun, food, and unforgettable experiences, head straight to Level 1 of Rundle Place.

Review by Carla Caruso

You know that magical moment when Harry Potter boards the Hogwarts Express and leaves the everyday behind?

That’s exactly how it feels stepping into this hidden gem, tucked just off Rundle Mall.

Here you’ll find a trio of Funlab favourites—Hijinx Hotel, Strike Bowling, and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq—plus a tempting lineup of eateries to keep you going between adventures. Playful costumes worn by the staff and novelty hats add to the immersive, anything-can-happen vibe.

This is the kind of place that keeps ‘I’m bored!’ complaints at bay, with something exciting around every corner. Here’s a taste of what my family-of-four got up to…

Hijinx Hotel

Our journey kicked off at the wonderfully wacky Hijinx Hotel, worth visiting for the décor alone. Inspired by a 1920s New York hotel, it features 10 immersive challenge rooms, alive with dazzling lights, oversized props, and clever puzzles.

From colourful ball pits to giant cubes, basketball hoops and submarine-style adventures, each room brings a unique challenge. Competing with family members was half the fun, especially seeing how everyone handled the pressure!

After the action, we unwound in the vibrant bar and lounge, where the cocktails and menu brought a touch of five-star flair to this playful wonderland.

Strike Bowling

Strike Bowling set the tone with its neon-bright shoes and a disco ball covered entirely in footwear. Clearly, it’s not your average bowling alley!

Located within the Archie Brothers arcade, it offers eight slick lanes and a buzzing atmosphere.

You can order food and drinks straight to your lane, from pizzas and burgers to crowd-pleasing sides. But the real twist? Three private karaoke rooms right next door.

Whether you’re belting out a solo or doing a full group performance, Strike lets your inner rockstar shine, with snacks and drinks also delivered right to your door.

Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq

Just when you think it can’t get more fun, Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq dials it up. This vibrant arcade is packed with classic games, claw machines, racers, and more. (Check out our past review for more.)

We got competitive on the basketball machines, raced in Mario Kart XD, and enjoyed a hit of nostalgia on the air hockey and dance machines.

The claw machines are a major draw, with everything from plush toys to high-tech prizes via the Key Master. Meanwhile, the redemption shop is packed with goodies, from merch and POP figures to Poké Balls and sweet treats.

We wrapped up with a ride in the Dodgems arena, bumping, spinning and laughing under the lights. It was the perfect high-energy finale.

Coffee and food options nearby

Beyond the Funlab fun, Rundle Place offers plenty of places to refuel, including C9 Chocolate & GelatoDoughBalls Pizza, and God Father Fried Chuan.

Whether you’re wrangling kids, entertaining teens, or simply chasing a fun day out for yourself, Level 1 of Rundle Place has everything you need: delicious eats, exciting games, and memory-making moments. No Hogwarts Express required.
