DoughBalls Pizza | Rundle Place, Adelaide | Family-friendly Review

Looking for a dough-lightful way to indulge after a day of fun? DoughBalls at Rundle Place delivers crowd-pleasing bites with a creative twist.

Think pizza is the ultimate comfort food? Wait until you try dough balls.

These bite-sized rounds of twice-proven pizza dough are golden and crisp on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside—perfect for dipping, sharing, or keeping all to yourself.

Served warm with dips like garlic butter, pesto or hummus, and sometimes stuffed with gooey cheese or fragrant herbs, they’re a crowd favourite for good reason.

The doughy delights are also the signature dish at DoughBalls, a family-friendly eatery nestled in Rundle Place, just off Rundle Mall.

UK-born couple Catriona and Lincoln Spalding first launched their concept at Glenelg in 2020 and now have locations in Taperoo and Rundle Place (where my family-of-four visited).

During our outing, we shared a platter featuring an assortment of dough ball starters. Picture bruschetta, goat’s cheese and prosciutto, plus the original dough balls with a colourful selection of dips including beetroot tzatziki. We paired this with a jug of creaming soda, but there are plenty of drink options to suit the grown-ups too.

There’s also an antipasto version of the platter, loaded with prosciutto, burrata, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and more.

Beyond dough balls, the food spot offers a creative spin on pizza with its light, crispy Roman-style bases, designed to let the toppings shine. Imagine bold combinations like chimichurri beef, burrata and prosciutto, barbecue pork, or Memphis chicken. Pineapple lovers are also welcome here!

Dipping sauces for pizza? Who knew that was a thing! Choose up to three flavour-packed options, like CaroClub’s spicy Memphis, classic ranch, or vegan chipotle, and take your slice to the next level.

For a lower-kilojoule option, try its Pizza Lite range, where crispy dough rings are filled with a fresh, dressed salad in the centre. There are also hearty salads, oven-baked pasta, buffalo wings, mocktails, cocktails and more.

The pizzeria’s décor is relaxed yet stylish, with warm wood tones, Italian accents, and a bar front and centre. Best of all, DoughBalls is located just steps away from Funlab’s Hijinx Hotel, Strike Bowling and Archie Brothers, making it the perfect pitstop after a day of family adventures.

Dine in or grab it to go, either way you’re in for a treat.
