GASHA | Adelaide Fringe 2026 | Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   5 Stars for high energy, visually stunning circus with a Japanese twist.

Review by Claire Davill

Cirquework’s follow up show to last year’s spectacular YOAH, GASHA maintains the same clever lighting and brilliant use of digital projection with new acts – this time with a focus on aerial work.

The acts are traditional circus acrobatics: aerial silks and hoops, cyr wheel and hula hoops. What sets GASHA apart from a traditional circus is their clever use of stage lighting and projected digital art, which elevates the show to a stunning visual treat. The addition of live music and Japanese-inspired costumes and props further enhances the show.

Skills are re-imagined in creative ways. An aerialist is lifted into the air and suspended solely by her hair, the cyr wheel is lifted and balanced above the artist’s head, and parasols are balanced in increasingly impressive ways.

The pace builds to a frenetic and joyful energy, with each performance lasting longer than your usual circus performances. This allows the artists to really showcase their individual skills.

The show is loud and chaotic, yet simultaneously precise and enchanting. While the material is entirely family-friendly, the pace, loud music and strobing lights might be unsuitable for very young children and individuals with sensory concerns.
